A Lunch Break to Educate: People of the Big Voice
Facilitator: Michael Schmudlach, WI Historical Society. "People of the Big Voice" tells the visual history of the Ho-Chunck families at the turn of the century and beyond as depicted through the lens of Black river Falls photographer Charles Van Schaick. Sisters, friends, families and young couples appear, fleshing out a narrative of the period, from 1879 to 1942, referred to as the "dark ages" in Indian tribal history. We are excited to announce the Heritage Days Festival sponsored by the Beloit Historical Society and Visit Beloit! The festival is an outdoors event that will take place in the grassy field adjacent to the Lincoln Center parking lot, rain or shine. Areas will be designated for Antique and Vintage vendors, Food and Beverage vendors, and non profits. Gary the Band will play from 11-3 PM. There will be a beer tent and a silent auction.
