7:30pm Performance in the Hendricks Center for the Arts at Beloit College, 409 Pleasant St., which may include music, dance, installation art by the Songwriters and the InterArts Ensemble from Beloit College.
The evening opens with original songs by Beloit’s newest crop of composers. The program will include singer-songwriters, guitar loops, electronica, and more. Composers are Grace Lafferty, Valerie Liang, Ruari O’Naughton, Mau Penn, Peyton Scarpaci, and Isabella Verdi.
Around 8pm, the InterArts Ensemble presents “Being Human,” featuring live performances and installations:
a story told through shadows
a circus-like commentary about the demands of artistic performance
“Look Here, I Am Thinking,” a four-screen video installation of a two-way conversation with abstract visualizations of internal thoughts
“Nostalgia in Three Acts,” a performance about our consumption of nostalgia and its consumption of us
“Tummy Ache,” an installation drawing attention to the often-forgotten realities of our digestive system
“no need to be embarrassed,” an auditory experience about swirling currents of worry
Mood Rooms, an immersive series of installations realizing various human emotional states
Under the direction of Yvonne Wu.
