Pump Boys and Dinettes

April 29, 2021 @ 8:00 am 5:00 pm

Four redneck gas station attendants and a pair of waitressing sisters — who address their patrons at the Double Cupp diner with soothing pet names like “baby” and “sugar” — sing a collection of radio-worthy country ballads and rock tunes as they go about their simple lives off Highway 57 located somewhere between Frog Level and Smyrna, North Carolina. The gas station doesn’t appear to get a whole lot of business. Still, they haven’t found time to repair Jim’s uncle’s defunct Winnebago because they are too busy filling the long days by making music. They also flirt with the women at the diner down the road a spell. The sisters Prudie Cupp and Rhetta Cupp serve up homemade pies and generously poured coffee. These big-hearted gals also help out in the music making, using whatever pot or pan comes to hand to provide the percussion. This is a musical tribute to life by the roadside!
