A young woman takes a job as a stenographer and sees the possibilities a career could bring her. Of course, she still lives with her mother and she’s at the bottom of the pecking order, but she knows there are possibilities for the future.
But in 1930s urban America, women only hold jobs until they marry. Careers are not part of a woman’s life equation – and of course, parents and bosses all know that. Between her mother’s urging her to marry and her boss’s flirtations, the young woman imagines a life with a purpose and a paycheck. Only problem is that her dreams don’t match the reality of married life and her husband is not the man she thought she married.
There must be a way out of this mess she’s made for herself; but with every decision she makes, her life collapses more. Finally, the young woman takes the only action possible and the result is a shocking reality. An Every(wo)man story that still rings true today.
Masks and social distancing is required indoors.
