Celebrate Independence Day with Pops on the Rock: A Salute to the Armed Forces
The Fourth of July is synonymous with festivities, parades, concerts, barbecues, and family gatherings. Beloit stays true to those traditions and offers an amazing family-friendly event—Pops on the Rock! Every year on Independence Day, locals and visitors gather together at Riverside Park, on the banks of the Rock River, to celebrate the holiday. It is a night of breathtaking performances, courtesy of the Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra. The event is free of charge and open to all!
The event kicks off with patriotic orchestra music, after which Pops on the Rock brings you a splendid display of fireworks. Sparklers, Bottle Rockets, Firecrackers and more light up the evening sky in a burst of colors! Relaxing by the river, enjoying the live music, and witnessing spectacular fireworks sets the perfect ambience to enjoy some soul food with friends and family. Luckily, various food vendors are present at the location to cater to your taste buds. You are welcome to bring your own food as well, however, alcohol is not allowed.
This year, your classic favorites such as The Armed Forces Salute, Simple Gifts (arranged by Dr. Crawford Gates), and Sousa’s Stars & Stripes Forever will be complemented by three movements from John Williams’ Star Wars. Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture ends the concert.
Pops on the Rock has been a favorite annual tradition in both Beloit and Janesville for more than 20 years. This year is no exception. Pops on the Rock: A Salute to the Armed Forces will be held in Beloit on the 4th of July at 7:30pm, while Janesville will get to enjoy the show on July 3rd at Courthouse Park at 6:30pm.
Do come by with friends and family members (children will love the show too) to express some good ol’ American pride and experience wonderful music, great food, and of course, fireworks! Bring some lawn chairs or picnic blankets to make the most of this enjoyable evening.
