Sports & Recreation

Whether you want to relax in a beautiful park, watch your favorite sport (or play it), or dive through the skies, Beloit offers a vast array of options for sports and recreation.

For a fun-filled day adventure, head over to Riverside Park. This beautiful park sits on the banks of the scenic Rock River and is adjacent to a pristine lagoon. Take in the beauty and walk or ride a bike on the 3.5 mile paved trail. Rent a pole and try your luck at fishing. Be on the look-out for catfish or the river’s famous bass. Throughout summer, you can enjoy community events such as Music at Harry’s Place, Dancin’ at Harry’s Place, and a Fourth of July celebration—Pops on the Rock. Be sure to bring your kids to Turtle Island Playground in the park; they’ll love the lookout tower, tree house, shipwreck, and the sand pit!

Grab your clubs and head for the picturesque Krueger-Haskell Golf Course. The course is located on the west side of the city of Beloit and has been a golfers’ favorite for more than 90 years. It offers an 18-hole, par 70, 6158 yard course. If you need some work before showing off your golfing skills, practice away at their chipping and putting practice sessions. You may also warm up at one of the five hitting cages. Recharge at the restaurant and bar, Putterz Pub, inside the Krueger-Haskell clubhouse. End your day by checking out the golf balls, logo shirts, golf gloves, and tees at their gift shop.

Show your love for baseball at a Beloit’s Snappers game. The Snappers are Beloit’s very own Class A minor league baseball team, affiliated with the Oakland Athletics. They play 70 home games at Pohlman Field and ticket prices start as low as $6.50. The Snappers are also known for their outstanding fireworks display nights throughout the season.  Gather friends and family for an evening of major league excitement at minor league prices!

Craving an adrenaline rush? Soar through the skies with Sylvania Soaring Adventures! This glider and soaring facility is located at the Beloit Airport. You can enjoy the spectacular view of the Chicago and Milwaukee skylines on a clear day for an even more memorable experience. Sit under beautiful oak trees and watch gliders and airplanes take off into the sky. You know you’ll be hungry after all that flying; fortunately, they offer barbeque grills and picnic tables.

Skydive the Rock, also located at the Beloit Airport, promises a skydiving adventure of a lifetime. You can also purchase high definition photos and videos of your amazing dive. Watch Video!

If you are a member of the Y you could also burn some calories at the Stateline Family YMCA. Relax or swim in their 6 lane, 25 yard indoor pool with friends or family. The Y caters to your fitness needs with 2 gymnasiums, a cardio & strength training room, and an indoor track for walking, jogging, or running (watch a video here). It also offers 3 racquetball courts, so feel free to challenge your friends to a game!

For a truly serene experience, choose from the dozens of evergreen parks at Beloit. You could consider camping, swimming, or even scuba diving at the pristine Pearl Lake. Don’t miss a tour of the Beckman Mill County Park and see an authentically restored 1868 grist mill. Take a step back in time with the 1840s cooperage, gift shop, and blacksmith shop. Book one of their picnic shelters for a day and stroll through the beautiful vintage garden and nature trail.

With a mix of exciting outdoor and indoor activities, you’ll find Beloit to be ideal for relaxation, fitness, or a memorable getaway!
