Opening Day at Beckman Mill marks the start of the season at one of Rock County’s most treasured historic sites. Visitors are welcomed back with a day of activities that highlight the charm, history, and natural beauty of Beckman Mill Park. The centerpiece of the event is the first public milling demonstration of the year, where the restored 1860s grist mill comes to life and volunteers show how grain was traditionally ground using water power.
Throughout the park, guests can explore the historic mill, cooperage, and the reconstructed dam, speak with knowledgeable volunteers, and enjoy guided tours that share the story of the Beckman family and the mill’s restoration. The grounds often feature family-friendly activities, nature walks, and opportunities to observe local wildlife along the scenic trails.
There will be live music and food available for purchase, and the gift shop opens for the season with mill-related souvenirs, stone-ground flour, and handmade goods. Opening Day offers a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere—perfect for history enthusiasts, nature lovers, and families looking to enjoy a day outdoors while learning about one of Wisconsin’s historic landmarks.
No admission charge but donations are greatly appreciated!
