Position Title: Director of Marketing
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Status: Full-time, exempt
Location: Visit Beloit, 656 Pleasant St., Beloit, WI 53511 (non-remote)

Position Result: Develop and manage a comprehensive, strategic marketing plan that drives visitation and enhances the region’s brand.
Position Overview:
Visit Beloit, the official destination marketing and management organization for the Greater Beloit, Wisconsin region, is seeking an experienced, visionary marketing leader to elevate the area’s profile as a vibrant travel destination. This role oversees advertising and branding initiatives and requires a balance of creativity, strategy, and strong management skills.
The Director of Marketing is responsible for executing an annual marketing plan designed to attract visitors and increase local economic impact. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader and collaborative partner who thrives in a fast-paced environment, embraces community engagement, and demonstrates a passion for tourism.
This position also manages relationships with external vendors, oversees contracts, and ensures that marketing programs are innovative, effective, and aligned with organizational goals. Success in this role requires strategic thinking, budget management, and the ability to communicate the work and value of Visit Beloit to stakeholders and partners.
Essential Functions:
- Manage and strengthen the Visit Beloit brand and brand voice across all channels.
- Lead the development of short- and long-term marketing strategies, annual plans, and budgets.
- Oversee the creation and distribution of all marketing and promotional materials.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with tourism-related businesses and community stakeholders.
- Direct and manage key initiatives, including:
- Market research and data-driven insights
- Print and digital literature production
- Destination promotional campaigns
- Partner and stakeholder databases
- Visual asset management
- Visit Beloit websites (WordPress and Wix)
- Collaborate with staff to ensure timely and effective project execution.
- Evaluate, hire, and manage outside vendors and creative partners.
- Engage with the Greater Beloit Partnership on contracted marketing projects.
- Represent Visit Beloit in media appearances and public engagements, as necessary.
- Ability to manage staff fostering professional growth and accountability.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to advance organizational goals.
Critical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Deep understanding of marketing principles, including brand management and tourism marketing.
- Creative graphic design skills that can showcase our organization and destination.
- Proven success in managing projects from concept through execution.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including copywriting and editing.
- Collaborative team player with strong leadership abilities.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to motivate and manage people and partners effectively.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in tourism marketing or a closely related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, tourism, communications, or a related discipline.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires the ability to remain seated for extended periods, moving around the office to access files and equipment, and operate standard office technology. The position also requires frequent communication with individuals and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
