Vegetarian & Vegan food in beloit

Vegetarian food can be limited in most towns. You browse the menu, but you know you’re going to end up ordering a grilled cheese and fries, and if you’re vegan, enjoy the free table bread (though if it’s the vegan house made focaccia bread at Velvet Buffalo, that’s not a bad meal). However, Beloit, with its urban flair, has tons of options beyond salads for vegetarians and vegans! Below is a breakdown of some of the best veg meals you’ll enjoy in Beloit.

Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Beloit for Burgers & Sandwiches

There are a lot of amazing burger options in Beloit, and vegetarians are not left out of this American classic. One outstanding example is at Lucy’s #7 Burger Bar. The “Veggie-licous” is a roasted vegetable and black bean burger stuffed with pepper jack cheese and topped with sautéed julienne vegetables and chipotle aioli. Get it with their house made pub chips or sweet potato fries. See how their veggie burger is made here.

Bagels & More Local Cafe has so many vegetarian and vegan options, including a Grilled Bistro Sandwich, Grilled Portabella Mushroom Sandwich and a delicious house-made Black Bean Burger that comes with a multi-grain roll, avocado, choice of veggies and a side of salsa. Bagels and More often offers a vegan soup and vegan desserts in their daily specials as well.

Another fantastic vegetarian sandwich in town is Bushel and Peck’s Avocado, Goat Cheese and Cucumber Sandwich. It’s modestly described as a whole grain toast, avocado, Wisconsin goat chevre, sliced cucumber, arugula, and pea shoots. B&P also offers a vegetarian picnic sandwich made with homemade hummus, mozzarella, arugula, homemade pesto, heirloom tomato, red peppers on a baguette, and a super fresh egg salad sandwich. This video walks you through their farm, kitchen, and fresh menu.

Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Beloit for Ethnic Fare

Beloit has an array of ethic food choices for vegetarians. Zen Sushi has tons of options, including a Bibimbap Bowl (omit the beef) and a Tofu Teriyaki Bento Box. They also have several vegetarian sushi rolls!

Beloit has a huge Mexican food scene, and vegetarians can find a delicious fajita or burrito almost anywhere in the city! In fact, find them all on our Taco Trail.

Truk’t has a number of options that cater to vegans. The Brussels Sprouts Appetizer & Brussels Sprouts Tacos, made with charred brussels sprouts, fried onion straws, smoky morita salsa and garlic aioli are vegan. Yes, even the aioli! Another vegan option is their Asian chopped salad.

Pizza may seem like a simple food choice for vegetarians, but finding a unique veggie pizza can be tough. Domenico’s Italian Ristorante‘s Sicilian Pizza is what you’ve been looking for! It’s a thin crust pizza with olive oil, Roma tomatoes, garlic, fresh basil, black pepper, oregano and Romano and mozzarella cheeses. A non-vegetarian introduced us to this pizza. It’s that good. It’s only rival is G5‘s Margherita Pizza topped with Roma tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, roasted garlic oil, basil pesto and finished with balsamic syrup.

upscale Options

Looking to get fancy? You may typically avoid restaurants with “steak and seafood” in the name, but be sure to make a reservation at Merrill & Houston’s Steak Joint to try the Wild Mushroom Ravioli, described as stuffed pillows with asparagus and tomatoes sautéed in a basil and garlic butter sauce.

Vegans have upscale options too at Velvet Buffalo Modern Italian! Their vegan Cacio e Pepe is amazing. It’s house-made bucatini with a creamy sauce of cashews, nooch, miso and cracked pepper. Many of their other pastas can be made vegan as well, just ask your server.

Velvet Buffalo is perfect for vegans with a sweet tooth. They have several rotating options including house made sorbetto and their one-of-a-kind Vegan Chocolate Tart with candied pistachio and ginger, luxardo cherries, black pepper meringue and sour cherry sorbetto.

Okay, okay, we had to include a few salads! Bushel and Peck‘s Power Salad is so healthy and fulfilling. It has organic mixed greens, seasonal veggies, avocado, garbanzo beans and hummus and is served with homemade balsamic vinaigrette. The Roasted Pear Salad at G5 is another equally satisfying salad with baby greens, roasted pear, beet, raisin, pecan, crouton, blue cheese and pear vinaigrette. Another fresh fare is the Beloit Club‘s Grilled Romaine Salad, which includes romaine lettuce split, fresh avocado, sweet baby peppers, mozzarella pearls, seedless cucumbers, topped with our house made passion fruit dressing, (omit bacon bits). A final unique vegan meal is their Vegetarian Tartare made of white rice, avocado, cucumbers, watermelon, sesame seeds, and balsamic reduction.
