Join fellow bird lovers- from beginner to virtuoso- in celebrating winter birding with an educational presentation and guided walk on our trails. Jennifer from Sinnissippi Audubon will share about the most common birds that are active at this time of year and how to identify their appearance and calls, then we will practice our birding skills outside together. Binoculars and hot chocolate provided. All ages are welcome, but the presentation is best suited for ages 10 and up.
This event coincides with the Great Backyard Bird Count, an annual four-day citizen-science event where people worldwide count birds in their local areas for at least 15 minutes, submitting sightings to help scientists track bird populations and migration patterns. Organized by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Audubon, it’s a simple way for anyone to contribute to bird conservation by using tools like the Merlin Bird ID app or submitting checklists to eBird.
