Welty Weeknight Paddle

Join Welty for a summer of weeknight kayaking/canoeing/paddle-boarding on the Rock River. Meet us at the Buccaneer Boathouse twice a month on Tuesday (June, August) or Wednesday (July) nights for a leisurely paddle, using Boathouse gear (boats, paddles, life jackets) from their easy-launching dock.

This is a chance to get some water time on your schedule with pleasant company, even if you don’t have a kayak (but feel free to bring yours). We will lead a brief safety and strategy session at 5:30 p.m. (where to go, what to watch for), or you can just get on the water and go.

These paddles are intended for adults. There is no lifeguard and minimal instruction, so familiarity with kayaks and strong swimming skills are encouraged. Waivers and life preservers are required before using any equipment (available at the Boathouse).

Equipment is available on a first-come, first-serve basis; all equipment must be returned to the Boathouse by 7 p.m.. In case of severe weather, the paddle will be canceled for that week (an email will be sent 2 hours prior, and we will post on Facebook).
