Lon Haldeman started cycling as a boy in the 1960s by riding the farm roads around southern Wisconsin. In the 1970s he was riding over 400 miles a day in 24 hour events. During the 1980s he set several coast to coast cycling records from seven to 10 days that still stand. By the 1990s he and his wife started a bicycle touring company that organized over 100 tours across America. For the past 20 years he has been leading bicycle tours in Peru and Africa while building schools in the most remote areas of the Amazon jungle.
Lon will be presenting a program at the Beloit Public Library on Monday, June 23 at 6:30 PM to share some of his diverse experiences of a lifetime of cycling adventures.
Signed copies of Lon’s new book “Cycling Pioneer” will be available for sale.
