The Musica Maxima series will kick off the 2024 season with a variety of musical treats, including an organ concert, vocal performances and a performance by David Newman and the Zephyr Wind Quintet.
All performances will be at 3 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 801 Bushnell St.
On Sunday, May 5, Ian Nie will accompany Anne Horjus, bass-baritone, and Deanna Horjus, soprano, in Schumann’s Dichterliebe, Barber’s Hermit Songs, and Schubert’s “Shepherd on the Rock.” There also will be Schuber’s piano trio in E-flat, opus 100, performed by Trio Divertimento — Patricia Nielsen, violin, John Pichart, cello and Ian Nie on piano.
All performances are free, but any free-will donations would be appreciated.
