As a woman, veteran, and minority-owned business, Karen is committed to strengthening the inclusivity in the community.
Karen’s spiritual journey first began at her family’s Nichiren Buddhist temple, which laid the foundation for her 14 years of experience as a psychic and medium. She continues to develop her abilities, and her team includes talented people in the metaphysical community like Johnathan Woods, a psychic medium based in Beloit. The unique offerings at Nine Bells & Cat Tails sets it apart and shoppers travel from across the Midwest including cities like Chicago, Rockford, Harvard, Belvidere, and Madison to discover one-of-a-kind items and classes that are only found in Karen’s store.
In addition to a wide variety of metaphysical supplies, the shop hosts engaging events focused on spiritual connection. Every Friday from 12-7pm, Johnathan holds his popular Crystal Ball Readings. He welcomes walk-ins to join for the experience, but encourages appointments for a more personalized reading. Locals rave about the shop’s readings, and the shop also offers Tarot Card Readings as well. Monthly events include a Paranormal Discussion Group and Empowerment through Belly Dancing sessions, which invites everyone to share their experiences and learn together in a safe space. With Halloween quickly approaching, Karen is gearing up for a special event she is organizing called the Witch’s Bash on October 26th from 4-8pm at the Downtown Beloit Association. The festive event will feature a variety of witchy vendors offering handmade crafts, incense burners, ceramics, tattoos, and so much more. Attendees will be able to enjoy delicious snacks and sweets for purchase, as well as the ability to participate in fun activities, including a photobooth, costume contest, psychic readings, and a lesson on safe incense burning. Beyond her metaphysical offerings, Karen is also a skilled educator and musically inclined. She provides private music lessons along with her team in strings, piano, drums, percussion, brass, and woodwinds. With her expertise primarily in piano, Karen and her team of instructors are involved in local music organizations and also teach at schools, including Beloit College.
