“I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and ultimately ended here in Beloit, WI where I finally decided it was time to open the shop that I had always wanted to own. I wanted a way to share different cultures of spiritual belief systems and provide a space that people felt comfortable in to ask questions and meet others that shared similar interests and curiosities. Also, having been brought up around the arts and music, I have several artist friends who struggle to find ways to get their forms of art out into the community. My hope is that my shop can be used as a stepping stone to get their names out there so, I like to feature as many local artists that I can. The art in my shop echoes the spiritual nature of the shop.
Visitors and residents alike should come stop by my shop if you’ve ever had any interest in expanding your knowledge on spiritual and self-awareness! You will get to feel the people in this local area by the talents of their art throughout the shop and you can be sure that you will always be welcomed at Nine Bells and Cat Tails!”

I started my own business because I love this shop. Always & Forever has been a bridal shop since 1990 and has had two different owners since then. Bountiful Beloit
Owner: Jenny Hoople and Raul Casique-Montes
Opened: 4/29/2020
Products: Local vegetables, organic groceries, Beloit-made pottery, and Lake Michigan stone jewelry.
“My husband and I have lived down the street from this storefront for 18 years and were excited for the opportunity to renovate this space and bring some life back into our neighborhood. My husband has worked on organic vegetable farms in the stateline area for 20 years and I’ve worked on a vegetable farm for 10 years. I also worked at the the Beloit Public Library and for myself as an artist during that time. We decided to open up a Jenny and Raul store so that we could more fully share our talents with Beloit and help alleviate the food desert that developed in our neighborhood after Cub Foods and Sav-A-Lot closed.
We have the freshest seasonal vegetables in Beloit and they’re available all week long and in limited amounts through the winter. Why run out to a big store when you can get most organic grocery basics right in your own neighborhood? Plus, the nature-inspired pottery I make is really awesome!”

Taylor + Max
Owner: Lisa Washington
Opened: 2/15/16
Products: Ethically-made clothing for children and apothecary for baby and moms.
“I moved to this area from Chicago by way of Memphis, TN. When we started to grow our family, I noticed that there weren’t any children’s shops that had the esthetic I love. So I found myself shopping while traveling. After my second son and daughter, I noticed that they were uncomfortable in their clothing. They also developed skin irritations. After researching I discovered that a part of the problem was the clothing I purchased for them. I changed to all organic and it made a big difference. I want to make it simpler for design conscious moms to shop for their kids.”
