Visit Beloit Helps Beloit Bundle Up
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – NOVEMBER 6, 2024
BELOIT, Wis. – During the months of September and October, Visit Beloit invited residents to drop off new or gently used coats, snow pants, sweaters, hats, and mittens as part of their Beloit Bundle Up campaign. There were several drop off locations throughout the city, including the Wisconsin Welcome Center – Beloit, Downtown Beloit Association, and the Beloit Farmers’ Market.
The most recent Beloit Bundle Up campaign was a great success. This year, 344 items were collected that were all donated to Community Action, Inc, which is a vital organization in Beloit that is doing significant work to help those in need.
The total Beloit Bundle Up donations collected were:
- 31 children’s coats
- 73 adult coats
- 21 blankets
- 1 stuffed animal
- 39 sweaters
- 8 pairs of boots
- 18 scarves
- 34 pairs of gloves
- 110 hats
- 9 pairs of socks
“As so many families continue to struggle, the cost of winter clothing can be a significant expense and an expense that some cannot afford,” says Marc Perry, Executive Director of Community Action, Inc. “It’s incredibly important to equip Beloit’s children for winter weather so they can focus on their education, focus on their childhood, and focus on their friends. It’s unfortunate that we have families in a situation where they can’t meet their basic needs, and we are grateful for organizations like Visit Beloit whose generosity helps keeps families safe and warm in the winter.”
Community Action, Inc. will host an Open House Coat Giveaway at the Eclipse Event Center on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Ensuring everyone has access to warm clothing this winter is our opportunity to bring comfort to those in need in the Beloit area,” states Celestino Ruffini, CEO of Visit Beloit. He continued, “We are thrilled that this year’s collection exceeded the amount donated in 2023 and look forward to hosting the drive next year.” This is the fourteenth year Visit Beloit has coordinated the Beloit Bundle Up clothing drive.
